How to Apply For AwardThe family of Mary McCrorie (nee West) has established a fund in her memory which will provide a Fellowship to be awarded each year to a graduate student at the University of Manitoba. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has also made a contribution to this fund. The purpose of this annual Fellowship is to support a promising student at The University of Manitoba who plans to make a career in research for the cure or treatment of Alzheimer Disease. The fund has been set up as an endowment fund. Income from the fund currently supports a Fellowship Award of $5,000 to a first time recipient. In addition, the Award is renewable for a second year in the amount of $5,000, should the first time recipient continue to qualify in their course of studies as per the Terms of Reference guidelines. Applicants must be registered in a Ph.D. program at the University of Manitoba and must have an outstanding grade point average (minimum 3.5), and a strong research proposal addressing potential treatments or cures for Alzheimer disease. Applicants must submit a letter of intent, which includes a statement of plans for a career in research in the field of Alzheimer disease, a research proposal, university transcripts, and curriculum vitae. This fellowship is not available to students who have received other awards that, in total, accumulate to $25,000 or more per year. Applications are to be received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Dean’s Office by May 15 each year.
